My wife usually puts him to bed but when it's my turn it is a great time. we read cool books and I usually ask him about his day! I definitely feel relaxed when all is going well at bedtime, sometimes SO relaxed that I'll fall asleep on a stool next to him!

My daughter and I have a great bedtime routine. She's 21 months old, our son is 3 1/2 yrs, and it's two different routines. Of course with my daughter we read books and she's just starting to talk, so that is great fun! We always hug and kiss, eskimo kisses too, and then wave goodnight to the butterfly wall decals and then it's off to her crib!

Re: The Best Part of Putting My Son to Bed

What a beautiful account. These days you read so much about physical abuse and how stressed parents are about having to take care of their kids. This was wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

Re: The Best Part of Putting My Son to Bed

agree, some nights are terrible -- the kids fight the bed, and other's my 3 1/2 yr old son is asking to go to bed. the other night, was a struggle, he just kept getting out of bed. 1.5-2 hours of mommy and I "tag teamming" putting him to bed. I do love the nights where I can sit and read a book and then talk to him about what he did at daycare.

Re: The Best Part of Putting My Son to Bed

Putting my kids to bed is the best part of the night (as long as everyone is in mostly good spirits still - which is a simple function of "how late it is"). Great post.
