Daddy's Toolbox: Way To Go Buddy! My Son Is Learning How to Swim

  • Lin · 4 months ago
Good job! Any time kids learn something new that they can do themselves builds self-confidence. Just looking at children's faces when they accomplish a new task, and seeing their eyes light up when they show parents what they learned to do on their own, is one of best things about being a parent. The kids feel proud of themselves and parents feel proud of the kids. It's a Win-Win! :)

Lin, thanks for the comment! it is a joy watching him "light up" and
ask me to watch. he's soooo excited to show us and get that "I am
making Mommy and Daddy Proud" look. We love it!

That's good to see that your son is doing well with learning how to swim. Although it may be a little stressful for you to watch, he will be so much better off and soon he will be swimming like a fish!

Chris, thanks for the comment! yeah, i'll get over the little
stresses soon enough -- but then there will be new ones. Like "GET
DOWN from the top of the tree!" Of course, I remember climbing apple
trees and looking out the top of the tree above all the branches when
I was 8-11 yo. I have 3 more years until then (hopefully). I bet by
next weekend he'll be floating and swimming better. he can't get
enough of the pool even though his lips quiver the whole time he's in
    the pool.

Good times. My kids are all water safe but still learning how to propel themselves. Every year they need a refresher. Congrats...

Thanks! i'm glad he is getting comfy with the water. And a plus to all
of this is our soon-to-be 3yo daughter is jumping into the pool in her
floaties and doesn't need us to catch her. She is our DAREDEVIL.
    (second child).

that's because by then you've realized kids don't get hurt. I keep
    telling myself that.

I can't wait to have the opportunity to teach my girl to swim. Need to help her learn to walk, talk, and hold a spoon first I suppose (she's just now 4 months) ha!

I am adding this to my blog roll! Nice site!
